Introduction

Hello! We're Rob and Carl. We are so excited to begin the next chapter of our lives by adding to our family through adoption. We both cannot wait to become fathers and provide our child the kind of life that we both had growing up. This profile will provide you with the chance to learn more about us and show you how much love your child will receive from us, our family and friends.

We love our life together. It is one filled with lots of love and even more laughter. If we are a match with you, it would be an incredible honor for us. We would be so humbled by your trust in our family.

About Us

We first met each other online 14 years ago while both living in New York City and working as actors. Since then we dated, moved in together (in 2008), got engaged (in 2011, after same-sex marriage became legal in New York State), got married (in 2013) and purchased a home and moved back to the town where Rob grew up (in 2015). Rob now works in retail operations and communications for a high-fashion brand and Carl works as a private school administrator.

Rob loves interior design, his mom's meatballs, dancing and uncontrollable laughing fits. Carl loves helping others/giving back, listening to music & seeing live shows (Alanis Morissette & Brandi Carlile are some favorites) and meditation/yoga (a regular practice of self-care & spirituality).

Carl Talks about Rob

Rob is hysterical, understanding and caring. Each day I spend with him feels like the first day we met, and even on my worst days he can always make me laugh. When he walks into the room people always smile. He's generous of spirit and is a great leader who people in the community look to. He's a thoughtful and kind son, brother and uncle who cherishes the times he gets to spend with his family, and he is fantastic with kids. Having a family of his own has always been something he has dreamed of and I can't wait for that dream to come true for him, and for us to realize it together!

Rob Talks about Carl

Carl is patient, encouraging, calm and genuine. Not too many people can say that they truly married their best friend, but I can confidently proclaim I did just that. Whenever you speak with Carl you know that you have his undivided attention as he makes sure he is listening to what you have to say. Even when you aren't aware, he is observing the things that make you happy and winds up surprising you with a gift that does just that. People can't help but like Carl immediately, as he is able to connect instantly with whomever he meets. Even though he doesn't physically live near his mother, you can feel how close they are because of the open and supportive relationship they have with each other. The first time I saw Carl hold his goddaughter, I saw a nurturing quality towards her which allowed me to remember why I fell in love with him. I can't wait to see the same with our child.

Family Life:

Home life is very important to both of us, and we make it a priority to have family dinner together each evening and breakfast together every weekend morning. Making sure we set limits on our work life to ensure quality time with one another (and hopefully, soon, a little one!) at home is also very important to us. Together we love working on our house, hosting parties and friend and family get-togethers, going to concerts and shows and exploring new cuisines and restaurants.

Exploring the world with each other, with family, or with friends is something very important to us as well. We hope to instill our love of adventure in our child. For those times when we can't explore far off places, we create memories closer to home.

We are both big animal lovers and we each had numerous pets growing up, including dogs, cats, birds and the occasional hamster. We rescued our cats, Lucy & Ethel, 9 years ago while still living in the city and they have brought so much love and joy into our family. They are both Calicos who were fostered together before we took them in. They are indoor cats who love to play and spend most of their days sleeping, preparing for their next playtime. Lucy loves people and is always the first to greet visitors when they walk through the door, looking for a belly rub. Ethel loves more one-on-one attention and she can often be found cuddling with us on the couch at the end of the day.

Our Friends and Family

All of our families & friends are so excited for us to adopt a baby. They can't wait to add a little one to the mix!

Being a native New Jerseyan, Rob's family are all close by. In fact within a few short blocks in either direction you can find his parents as well as his sister, her husband and our 4 nieces and nephews! This works out great for weekly get-togethers, afternoons by the pools and weekend BBQ's.

You'll also find us at baseball and softball games, football games and cheer matches, rooting on our nephews and nieces, or taking trips down the shore to enjoy the beaches together.

Most of Carl's family, including his mother, step-dad, brother, aunts, uncles and cousins are still in Upstate New York so they will come down to visit, or we often go up for holidays and to spend long weekends in the Adirondacks and Lake George. Recently Carl became godfather to his adopted cousin's daughter, so trips Upstate are becoming even more frequent now. Carl's sister and her partner live in Mystic, CT, a great excuse for a road trip every now and then as well!

Our friends are family as well, and whether it's the best friends we grew up with from the neighborhood, the close friends we made in college, or the friends we've made through our community group in town, we make it a priority to get together with them and their families whenever we can. We often have "family dinners", game nights and weekend trips to partake in. we can't wait to see our little one become friends with our friend's kids as they grow up together!

Our Home and Community

We live in a charming 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom colonial home built in 1925, with plenty of room for our child to play indoors or in the back yard with the neighborhood kids.

Our home sits on a gorgeous suburban tree-lined street, with many other young families with children. We all know one another, and each year we have a fun-filled block party, BBQ's & holiday get-togethers.

Our town has a quaint downtown area lined with many shops and local restaurants and cafes that we like to visit on the weekends. We're not far from New York City, which makes trips in for a Broadway show, art museum, concert or a visit with friends who still live there very easy.

We also helped to co-found, and sit on the board of, our town's first Pride Alliance, which has allowed us to create and strengthen a community of LGBTQ+-identifying individuals and allies, many of whom have children and family of their own whom we've become very close with.

Our Message to You

Thanks so much for taking the time to get to know us a little better. We hope that you were able to get a strong sense of who we are and of the laughter, love, support and joy that we can provide to your child. We are very much looking forward to being parents and cannot wait to share our lives with them. We will always honor you as their birth mother and they will forever know of your caring and love. Thank you so much for considering us. We are so grateful!!
