Our humble abode
Intro:
Hello, we are Javier and Brian, and we are ready to raise a child that will bring so much joy to our lives. We are ready to offer a home where curiosity is encouraged, feelings are honored, and individuality is celebrated. We also acknowledge that parenting will not be easy because it will challenge and change us, and we welcome that with open arms. We want to be the kind of parents who show up every day with patience, humor, and so much unconditional love.
As we take this next step in our lives, we also recognize your strength and courage as you navigate this decision. Please know that you are not alone—we see you, we respect you, and we are grateful for the love and intention behind every choice you are making.
About Us:
We have been together for almost 5 years and married for almost 2. We met in person while we were out with friends on July 3, 2021—something that feels rare these days! Neither of us had expectations that night, but we were both drawn to each other. From the very beginning, we both knew we had found our forever person. While dating, we lived in different towns and spent every weekend together, making the most of our time. In January 2023, we took the next step in our journey and moved in together.
Meet Javier:
I’m someone who shows up for the people I love, a trait that’s only grown deeper during my seven years teaching middle school. In my classroom, I prioritize a student’s well-being just as much as their education; I want every child to feel safe, capable, and unconditionally supported.
When I’m not teaching, music is my life (Beyoncé is always on repeat!) and I love hitting the gym for a workout class with Brian. To unwind, I’m usually baking for my family or wandering Barnes and Nobles for the next read! Traveling is also a huge part of our lives. One of my favorite memories was visiting the Dominican Republic with Brian and my family and returning to where I was born was an experience I’ll never forget.
Meet Brian:
Growing up in North Jersey with two older sisters, I learned early on how to be both ambitious and resilient. That drive led me to become one of the youngest black belts in the country at age ten and eventually compete in the Junior Olympics. Today, I bring that same focus and empathy to my role as a Senior Manager in Human Resources, where I work to ensure everyone around me feels truly seen and understood.
I’m a fierce protector of the people I love. For fun, I’m a foodie with a serious sweet tooth and I’m always hunting for the perfect brownie sundae. I’m also a self-proclaimed fashionista, modeling clothes for Javier and my co-workers! Traveling is important to me and I’m always excited to go where there are beaches and palm trees. I love staying active with Javier and, like him, I’m a huge Beyoncé fan and I’ve seen her nine times and counting!
Our Adoption Journey:
Becoming dads has always been a dream of ours which felt impossible when we were growing up. In a world that often saw differences as disadvantages, parenthood felt like a distant reality. Yet, as we look back now, we recognize that every challenge and moment of doubt has shaped us. The struggles we’ve faced will make the moment we become fathers all the more meaningful.
From the very beginning, when we met nearly five years ago, we have shared the dream of having children. We are both incredibly fortunate to come from loving, supportive families whose bonds continue to strengthen us today. The love we’ve received has been the foundation of our relationship, and it inspires us to give that same unconditional love to a child of our own.
Our Family & Friends:
From day one, our child will be surrounded by a huge, loud, and loving community that stretches across two cultures. From Javier’s Dominican roots, they’ll grow up in a close-knit Hispanic household where weekly dinners are a given and Noche Buena (Christmas Eve) is a 'no matter what' celebration. From Brian’s Italian heritage, they’ll join in the Feast of the Seven Fishes and the annual tradition of jarring homemade sauce with the whole family. Beyond our relatives, we are lucky to have a diverse circle of lifelong friends who have been our rock and are already cheering us on. Whether it’s a big holiday or just a family dinner on any given day, our child will always be surrounded by an army of grandparents, aunts, cousins, and 'chosen family' ready to love them unconditionally. We are so ready to introduce our child to these beautiful traditions, watching them grow up wrapped in all this laughter and support as we start new ones together as a family.
Our Home & Community:
We live on a quiet cul-de-sac where the library, parks, and our favorite local spots are just a short walk away. Our home is a cozy, three-bedroom sanctuary with a big fenced-in yard and a basement ready for a lifetime of play. We’re lucky to be surrounded by top-tier schools and a huge "village" of extended family who live just around the corner.
Whether we’re hopping on the train for a Broadway show in NYC, driving an hour to the beach, or just hosting a barbecue on the patio, our life is a balance of big adventures and peaceful afternoons at home.
