Introduction
Ever since we were married, we have wanted to be parents. It has been our greatest wish to have a child to love and cherish, as our families have always done for us. In 2013, that wish was granted when we adopted our daughter Chloe through A Loving Choice.
Family means so much to us both. We have been so very lucky to be surrounded by two warm, caring and affectionate families. We continue to share that feeling with Chloe and hope to share that with another child someday too.
We have enjoyed sharing many of the same opportunities that we had as children, including the exploration of new places, the appreciation of the arts and the value of a good education with our daughter.
We love to play games, read stories and play in the yard. Our favorite family activity is traveling.
About Us
Matt and Anne Marie were introduced by a friend in 2003 when we both auditioned for a play at the same community theater.
After a year of friendship, we both realized we wanted something more. Our first date was in 2005, and when we kissed goodbye, we knew “this is the real thing.” Matt proposed a year later and we were married in 2007.
Anne Marie is Matt’s best friend in the whole world. She is compassionate, full of love and very nurturing. She is funny and smart. Family always comes first. Anne Marie is always ready with a hug, a whole lot of laughter and endless positivity. She teaches Chloe strength and fortitude, but also kindness and sweetness. It’s always a great joy to watch them together.
Matt is the personification of the word “kind”. Matt is smart, nurturing and wonderful with children—it is truly a gift to watch him with Chloe. There is always time for snuggles, tickles and funny faces—Matt loves to make her laugh!
On a beautiful Sunday afternoon in October 2013, we got a call from A Loving Choice regarding a little girl who had been born at 29 weeks. This baby had been abandoned in the hospital and had been alone for 3 weeks. Although her prematurity and other issues had the potential for challenges, we knew she was meant for us. Three days later, we met our tiny little gift. She was 3lbs 4oz and 13 inches long but she was already known in the NICU as a fighter. We took one look … and fell in love. We adopted Chloe that same day. Four weeks later, we took her home.
Since that day, Chloe has grown into a thriving 4 year old, who loves school, playing with her cousins and friends and dancing. She has an infectious laugh and a brilliant smile. She truly lights up any room she comes in to and we are so grateful she was matched with us that fateful day.
Family Life
Matt is the eldest of three, with a younger brother and a younger sister, who grew up in New Jersey. Anne Marie, an only child, grew up in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Whether our family is around the corner or several hours away, we love to spend time with them. The two families have truly blended into one. We enjoy each other so much, we even travel together!
Anne Marie, a Project Manager in the public health field, likes to spend her free time cooking, baking and reading. She never goes anywhere without a good book.
Matt, a high school teacher, enjoys watching his favorite baseball team – the New York Mets. Matt used to play and coach baseball too. His biggest hobby is performing musically on guitar and piano. He is a talented performer and a wonderful singer.
Together, our favorite hobby is traveling. We have journeyed all over the United States as well as exploring internationally too. Our favorite holiday spot is Walt Disney World.
Our Friends and Family
Our family extends to our wonderful friends, whose children call us “Aunt” and “Uncle”. We were honored to be asked to be Godparents to our dear friends’ son. Matt’s brother and wife have two beautiful girls with another baby on the way. Our children adore each other and we look for frequent occasions to get together.
Together with our family, our friends have been very supportive of our adoption process and can’t wait to see our journey continue with the adoption of another child. We are so thankful for the life we have built together. There are no limits to our joy at being Chloe’s parents. We believe our little family has more love to give and look forward to another, equally amazing, blessing by adopting again.
Our Home and Community
We are located on a very safe and quiet cul-de-sac near two parks and a community swimming pool. The local school system is excellent and rated one of the best in the state. Our neighborhood has several young children and we have become close with many of those that live near us. Our neighborhood has plenty of room to play, jump, run and swim.
Our Message to the Birth Family
Thank you for reading about us. Please know that we are in awe of the selflessness that adoption requires of a birth parent, one in which the words “Thank You” do not express nearly enough. We appreciate your consideration of us as adoptive parents.
We promise to provide your child with support, encouragement, celebration, protection, and, most importantly of all, our endless love. The child we have together will always know about the courageousness of their mother and how our family came to be. We feel this link is important and hope to work with you to establish just the right level of connection that is comfortable for everyone.
It is our humble hope that, through these words, a connection can begin and a family can be built.
