Introduction

We have been together since 2004 and married since 2008. We are hoping to add to our family by adopting another child. We have already been blessed with a wonderful son, Ethan, who was adopted, and is currently 3 years old. He is looking forward to having a playmate and being a big brother.

We are excited for other opportunity to share our love and our lives with another child. Thank you for even considering us as a potential adoptive family. Please be assured that if we are blessed to the be parents of your child, he or she will be unconditionally loved and cared for by us. We will do anything possible to provide him or her with any opportunities we can. We are incredibly excited to be parents to your child.

About Us

We met in 2004 at a wedding where Mara was the maid of honor and Wil was best man. As cliché as it might sound, it was literally love at first sight and we have been together ever since. Mara was attracted to Wil’s personality; he was (and still is) funny, outgoing, open-minded, and generous. Wil was attracted to Mara’s confidence, dry humor, compassion, and loving nature.

After dating for about a year, Wil introduced Mara to his kids.. Austin and Bailey immediately accepted Mara. They both were able to see that she loved their dad and openly accepted and loved them. Mara willingly and lovingly took on this role.

Meet Mara
In Wil’s words: Mara has a big heart is very loving and overall an incredible wife. Mara is very generous and always does the right thing. Mara always looks at any situation in a positive manner and helps me see the good in everything. Mara is the person I have been looking for my whole life.

I admire the relationship that Mara has with her family—in particular her parents.

After watching Mara with Ethan and having seen her openly accept my kids, I can attest to the fact that Mara is an excellent mother. She is extremely patient, loving and consistent. She is happy to get on Ethan’s level and just be silly with him. I know that any child would be blessed to have her as their mother.

Mara’s career journey: Mara works part-time as an attorney; mainly practicing commercial and employment litigation. Mara is committed to social justice and has spent significant time dedicated to this. After graduating from college, Mara spent a year volunteering with Jesuit Volunteer Corp. in Arizona. There she was in charge of an after-school tutoring and mentoring program for struggling children, taught social justice and biology to high school students, and worked in the office of peace and justice for the high school. She taught there for four years before returning to the east coast to be closer to her family. The next two years, Mara taught religion to high school boys and worked in campus ministry before deciding to go to law school. Since graduating, Mara has primarily been working for a law firm. She has been blessed to work at a firm that understands Mara’s commitment to social justice and the importance of family.

Meet Wil
In Mara’s words: Wil is truly a selfless, kind and generous person. He is a loyal friend, good father and supportive spouse. Wil can be extremely silly—sometimes even when he is not meaning to. He is truly good natured and always puts everyone before himself. He is outgoing and extremely friendly! I feel truly grateful to have met Wil and to be lucky enough to be married to him. He is truly my best friend. No matter what we do together, we always have a great time!

Wil is an excellent father. I have known for years that he is a good father and this has been reinforced by seeing him with Ethan. He is loving, affectionate, actively involved and supportive. Wil has created a healthy balance with Austin and Bailey by allowing them to be and express themselves while at the same time setting appropriate expectation and understanding his role as a parent.

Wil’s career journey: Wil is the Director of Operations. He is a prime example of someone who has worked his way up the corporate ladder and made his own way. He began his career in the mail room and now oversees seven national and global fortune 500 companies and law firms. When looking at Wil’s accomplishments, it has to be emphasized that he was born to an immigrant family who had just relocated from Ecuador. Wil’s first language was Spanish and in fact, he did not learn English until he was in school. At the time Wil went to school, there wasn’t an ESL program, so Wil just had to try to learn it by himself. This was at the same time his parents were also learning the language so they were unable to assist him. Wil has accomplished so much and continues to work hard while understanding the importance of family.

Family Life

We have a very loving home and spend our free time together. We have two small dogs, who we consider members of our family. During the summers, we spend our days at the beach, bike riding, going to the local parks; we spend our evenings grilling on the patio. Throughout the year, we frequently visit our extended family especially our parents. We travel several times a year going to such places as Ireland, the islands, Disney, and Ecuador.

Wil has two children from a prior marriage. Bailey is 17 and Austin is 22. Although divorced, Wil has always been an active father and involved father. Austin and Bailey love Ethan and were excited to have a little brother. They are both equally excited to welcome another little one to our family!

Our Friends and Family

Both Mara and Wil’s parents love being grandparents!

Mara’s Family: Mara has two siblings. who both live nearby. Her brother loves being an uncle and Mara’s sister loves being an aunt. We all get together during holidays and special occasions and it is always a great time. While Mara’s parents do not live in the same state, they are extremely close. Mara’s father, when in town for business, comes to stay at their house. He is in town about every three weeks. Every year we vacation with Mara’s parents at their home and take a family vacations with them as well. Mara’s entire extended family attend Thanksgiving at Mara’s parent’s as well. Most family members extend their stay to around a week, which we all look forward to every year!

Wil’s Family: Wil also has two siblings. His brother, along with his family, live in the neighboring town. Wil and Mara see them regularly. Wil enjoys going to the movies with his brother as they both enjoy Marvel comic movies. Wil’s sister and husband live several state away, but come to our house to visit annually. Wil’s parents live out of state. He comes from a close-knit family, most of whom have remained in the northeast. Wil’s parents throw annual events for the entire extended family.

Our Home and Community

We live in a great community, only a few blocks from the beach. Our elementary school, which is a block away, is an award winning school both nationally and statewide. We have two ocean pools and a two mile boardwalk. It is a close knit community. Our town in many ways feels like you are going back in time—all the kids ride around on bikes, swim in the ocean, spend their summers outdoors—not playing video games. There are opportunities for kids to participate in swim team, junior lifeguards, basketball, soccer, & dance. The town has its own marine science camp in the summers, surfing camp, recreation camp, and theater program run through the town community theater program. While the town is only 2 miles wide, it has 3 large parks, where we frequent often.

Our Message to You

We know this must be a very difficult time for you and we applaud your bravery. We sincerely want to thank you for having the courage to selflessly place your child with another family. Please be assured that we will provide your child with unconditional love and we promise to provide him or her with anything we possibly can. We both come from close knit and supportive families who will graciously welcome your child into their lives. Having already adopted our son, Ethan, we understand the unique challenges that face adoptive children and are more sensitive to the needs of an adoptive child. Mara was raised with an adoptive brother and understands both the blessings and potential challenges associated with adoption. We hope you can find solace in knowing that your sacrifice was not in vain and your child will be well-provided for with love, stability, and compassion in every way possible.
